Veterans initiative

Jobs for veterans and military spouses.

You already have the skills employers want. The hard part is putting them into words a civilian hiring manager understands. ETS Workforce Solutions does that part for free, and has done it for hundreds of veterans and military spouses in the Champlain Valley.

What we do

The problems we solve.

Four things veterans and military spouses tell us get in the way, and what we do about each one.

  • Translating military skills

A 91B is a diesel mechanic and a 92Y is a supply chain professional, but a civilian hiring manager will not know that. We rewrite the experience into the language of the job you want.

  • Resume gaps from PCS moves

Military spouses often have gaps because the family moved, not because they stopped working. We help you explain those gaps clearly and with confidence.

  • A work history shaped by PCS moves

Four employers in six years can look like job hopping until three PCS moves explain it. We make sure the hiring manager sees that context before your resume is screened out.

  • Employers underestimating the experience

We train our recruiters to read military experience, and we speak up for it with the employer so your resume does not have to do that work alone.

How it works

From your first call to your first day.

The process has four steps, and an experienced recruiter guides you through each one.

01

Tell us about your service

Tell us your branch, your MOS or rating, your rank and what you spent your time doing. That last part matters most.

02

We translate the experience

We rewrite your experience into civilian terms and tell you which industries it lands best in. You keep that whether you work with us or not.

03

We match you to real openings

We match you to jobs we are filling now, and we brief the employer on what your experience means for the role.

04

You start, and we check in

We check in on your first day, after your first week and after your first month. The transition is the hardest part, and we stay with you through it.

What it costs you

What this costs you, in full.

This service costs you nothing. Every job seeker service at ETS is free.

  • Free for veterans

Everything we do for job seekers is free, and that includes this. Our clients pay us when we place someone.

  • Free for military spouses

Military spouses get the same service and the same recruiters, also at no cost.

  • No fee out of your wages

Nothing is deducted from your pay for our service. The pay rate on the job is the pay rate you earn.

  • No obligation to take anything

Talking to us does not commit you to anything. Many people use the resume translation and then take a job somewhere else, and they are welcome to.

Questions

Veteran questions, answered.

The questions we hear most from veterans and spouses. Call (518) 562-4673 for anything else.

01

Does the ETS Veterans Initiative cost anything?

No. The veterans initiative is free for veterans and military spouses, the same as every other job seeker service at ETS. Our clients pay us when we place someone.

02

Does ETS help military spouses too?

Yes. Military spouses get the same recruiters and the same help, particularly with resume gaps and frequent moves, at no cost.

03

What if my MOS has no civilian equivalent?

Most do, once you look at what the role involved day to day. Leadership, logistics, maintenance, scheduling and safety translate directly into industrial and professional roles, and that translation is what we do.

04

How do I explain gaps from PCS moves?

Explain the gap plainly and give the reason. A gap caused by a PCS move does not worry an employer who understands it, and we make sure that context reaches them before a resume screen filters you out.

05

What kind of jobs does ETS place veterans in?

ETS places veterans in manufacturing, skilled trades, industrial and warehouse, engineering, professional and admin, and healthcare support roles across the North Country, the Capital Region and Vermont.

06

How do I start with the Veterans Initiative?

Fill in the form on this page or call (518) 562-4673 and say you are a veteran or a military spouse. A recruiter who has done this before will call you back.

Ready to make the transition?

Tell us about your service and we will translate it into something a civilian employer will understand. It costs you nothing.
